| Just the other day, I went to Target to buy some stuff including extra large bag of Iams cat food. After purchasing the stuff, I went home. "Ahh!! Where's the cat food?!?" and realized I left it under the cart. I called Target and they said that someone found it and brought it back in saying "someone left this outside." Whew! So I drove back and got the Iams back. There was a scrap paper taped to the bag of food "Paid 5-22-07, left at parking lot" Boy am I glad someone was kind enough to bring it back in. S/he could easily take it with her/him cuz you know, it aint a cheap cat food! | | |
| Homeless people. Some of them became homeless after a great big loss (loss of job, family deaths, divorces, bankruptions, etc), some of them became homeless because of their mental illness, some of them became homeless because of drugs and alcohol, and many more reasons. I've heard stories that some of them pretended to be homeless so that they can earn money from generous people who gave them their changes. And of course, those drug addicts and alcoholics would use the money to buy drugs or alcohol. That's why I don't give changes to the homeless. I give them food instead.
About a month ago, I was driving to Subway to get myself a sandwich and two lights before the Subway, I saw a bearded homeless man carrying a sign that said "Hungry for food. God Bless You." I felt really bad cuz he was not asking for money, but for food. So when I got to the Subway, I decided to buy him a sub too. When I came back to that corner, he was not there anymore. I looked around to see if I can find him. But no he was not anywhere in sight. I was sad. Still to this day, when I drive to that area, I keep my eye out for that homeless man.
Today after work, I was on my way to pick up Raine from school, there was this young gal about my age holding up a sign that said "Broke down. Stranded. Anything helps. God Bless." I had a bag nearly full of Chex cereal in the car so I handed her the bag. The face, the look on her face I'll never forget, she was so grateful and thanked me. It was a nice feeling.
Being kind does make people feel good about themselves. Even though when someone is going through a tough time, s/he should take the time to help someone out, even if it only takes 30 seconds, that would make her/his day, as well as the people who needed help. Go and do some random act of kindness. | | |
